Beatle Mania in Franklin County

Bicentennial Concert June 14, 2008

1964 - The Tribute

Franklin County Fairgrounds, Malone, will be the site of a free concert by what Rolling Stone Magazine calls the “Best Beatles Tribute on Earth” on Saturday, June 14, 2008. Sponsored by the Franklin County Bicentennial Commission, 1964 The Tribute will perform at the fairgrounds main stage at 8pm.

1964 The Tribute has performed at Carnegie Hall, Shea Stadium and has been featured on the CBS Early Show. Their wide appeal is evident when you consider that they’ve been profiled on such different radio programs as National Public Radio’s Morning Edition and The Don Imus Show. The fab four of 1964 The Tribute not only sound remarkably like the Beatles, but they also look and act like the famous band. Whether you remember the Beatles North American Tour of 1964-66 or are just learning about the Beatles for the first time, 1964 The Tribute will delight and transport you back 44 years.

The concert is free and open to the public, as part of the Franklin County Bicentennial Celebration on June 14. The event is alcohol-free. Bicentennial Day begins at 11am with a parade along Main Street in Malone, from Pearl St. to the fairgrounds, where it will loop once around the track in front of the grandstand. Following the parade, a full day of activities are planned that celebrate the past and present of Franklin County, including: children’s games, local entertainment, tug-of-war competition, Civil War re-enactment, historical displays, a puppet theater performance, and Flag Day ceremony. Following the concert, a fireworks display will be presented over the fairgrounds. Parking will be available on the fairgrounds for a fee of $2/car.
