Franklin County Tug of War Championship

Teams of seven men or women are sought for a tug-of-war competition on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. The winning team will be crowned “2008 Franklin County Tug-of-War Champions” and awarded a trophy. The tug-of-war competition will be held in conjunction with the Franklin County Bicentennial Celebration.

The following rules apply:

1) Teams will be comprised of seven (7) men OR women. No mixed teams will be allowed.
2) The first team to get the flag to their side wins.
3) Gloves are allowed and can be used at the discretion of team members.
4) Boots are preferred, sneakers allowed. NO CLEATS will be allowed.
5) If the Anchor Man or Woman loses his/her footing and falls down, the judge will stop the contest and the rope will be reset to the starting position. (This applies to the anchor only).
6) The Anchor Man or Woman is allowed to wrap the end of the rope around his/her waist with a single knot only.
7) No standing on the rope.
8) Competition will be organized as a tournament. Each team will be assigned a number and at 5:30pm on June 14, 2008 the teams will be drawn and the tournament will begin. If at least 8 male teams participate, it will be double-elimination. If not double-elimination, then finals will be best 2 out of 3.
9) Head judge has final decision on all aspects.
